It acts as an early warning system, alert the driver when the pressure in one or more tires falls significantly below the manufacturer’s recommended level. Operating primarily through sensors located within each tire valve stem, the system continuously measures pressure. These sensors transmit real-time data to the vehicle’s central computer. When the computer detects a pressure drop, typically 25% or more below the recommended psi, it triggers a dashboard warning light.
